Signs of stress and how to relieve it

According to the American Institute of Stress, the word stress as it is currently used was coined by Hans Selye in 1936, who defined it as “the non-specific response of the body to any demand for change”

An increased number of people are reported to feel stressed by their daily routines. Stress can cause you to overeat, feel tired, and not want to be active. Healthy eating and regular physical activity may help offset the effects of stress.

To relieve stress and stay on track with improving your health, we recommend that you try a combination of these behaviour.

  • Get adequate sleep.
  • Try a new hobby or any activity that sparks your interest.
  • Surround yourself with people whose company you enjoy.

Remember, a balanced eating plan, regular physical activity, stress relief, adequate sleep, and other behaviours may help you stay healthy for life!
